Section 4: Business Story (25 marks)
The story below contains verb mistakes. Correct the mistakes by rewriting the story with the correct tenses.
Last week, our company is organizing an important meeting with potential investors. While we prepare the meeting agenda, the marketing team was designing a presentation to showcase our progress over the past year. The IT department has set up the technical equipment, but during a routine test, the projector breaks down, which delays everything.
Meanwhile, I speak with the operations manager about the recent changes in our supply chain. She was mentioning that there is an issue with one of our main suppliers, but they have not informed us yet. While we are discussing this, the CEO enters the room and asks for an update on the meeting preparations. I tell him that everything is going smoothly, except for the technical issue with the projector.
By the afternoon, the technical problem was resolved, and the team finalized the presentation. As the meeting was starting, I noticed that one of the key investors has not arrived yet. He informs us earlier in the day that he is planning to join virtually, but unfortunately, the internet connection fails temporarily. While we are waiting for him to join, the CEO is reviewing the initial slides and giving feedback to ensure the presentation is perfect.
Eventually, the internet connection is restored, and the investor joins the meeting. The presentation is progressing well until one of the slides contains an error in the financial projections. The finance team was preparing the slides late the night before and overlooks a critical detail. While the CEO was addressing the mistake, I apologize on behalf of the team and promise to send the corrected data later. The investors, however, seem satisfied with the overall progress and agree to schedule another meeting next week to discuss further steps.
At the end of the day, the CEO congratulates the team for their hard work and says, "Mistakes happen, but we need to be more careful moving forward." While everyone is packing up, I reflect on how important preparation and attention to detail is in business settings.
